Denny is doing an absolutely amazing job with the upkeep of our flower gardens. They are gorgeous!

When I made the move from the city to the county to start my life with him, I brought my love of gardening and corresponding big dreams with me.

At the time I was actively engaged in the whole process from planning to weeding. It was heavenly!!

But when I got hit with the Big “S”, that all changed. Unable to get myself into most any position needed to be effective, my sweet hubby took on the role of master gardener.

I’m not saying he doesn’t like flower gardening, but it can be a lot of work. And his efforts definitely shine through.

I’m sure there are times when he looks out at the yard and just sees everything that needs to be done.

One of the benefits of living with a chronic illness is that it forces you to look beyond what’s wrong or needs fixing and to focus on what’s most important.

So although I do see the weeds, I’m just so happy and grateful to be able to enjoy such a beautiful space that I’m content with basking in the joy it brings me.

Of course, weeding is part of the process of creating and maintaining a beautiful garden. And you do the best you can to keep the pesky uninvited squatters at bay.

But I’m reminded that much like in life, if you’re looking for perfection in a weed free garden before you can enjoy it, you’re definitely missing the point!
