Wednesday Wisdom
Last week I shared about the presentation on Healthcare Self Advocacy that I was giving at the National Scleroderma Foundation’s annual conference. I thought I’d give a recap on how things went.
Leading up to the event, my mind was racing with all the "what-ifs." I stressed over the slides, the words and the fear of making a mistake. Most of all, I wanted to do Melissa proud.
But you know what??? It turned out to be an amazing experience!
As I looked out at the audience, I realized that they didn’t care about a perfectly rehearsed delivery. What they cared about was connection, value, and my authentic energy.
It’s good and commendable to want to do a great job, but sometimes the pursuit of perfection can distract us from what’s most important.
Is there something you’ve been wanting do or try but have been afraid to? Don’t let the fear of failure keep you on the sidelines.
Because doing something imperfectly is always vastly better than doing nothing at all.
